China Airlines, Taiwan’s flag carrier, has solidified its commitment to modernizing and expanding its long-haul fleet by finalizing an order for ten Airbus A350-1000 aircraft. The agreement, officially signed on March 31, 2025, confirms a previous commitment made in December 2024 and reflects the airline’s broader ambition to enhance its global network—particularly across the transpacific and transatlantic markets.

The A350-1000s are set to operate on routes to North America and Europe, enabling China Airlines to boost capacity and efficiency on its most competitive long-distance sectors. With this move, the airline will leverage full operational commonality with its current fleet of 15 A350-900s, streamlining pilot training, maintenance, and operations.

Fuel-Efficient, Passenger-Focused
The Airbus A350-1000 is widely regarded as one of the most advanced widebody aircraft in service today. With a maximum range of 9,700 nautical miles (18,000 km), it offers extended reach with 25% lower fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions compared to previous generation aircraft. These jets are also SAF-ready, currently certified to fly with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel, with a 100% SAF target set for 2030.
