Chicago, August 12, 2025 – United Airlines has unveiled a new partnership with Apple TV+ that will allow passengers to enjoy award-winning series like Severance, Shrinking, Ted Lasso, Slow Horses, and Silo for free on seatback screens and through the United mobile app. The initiative marks a significant step in United’s broader strategy to redefine the inflight entertainment experience and set a new standard in premium air travel.
Expanding Entertainment Across 300,000+ Screens
United is investing heavily in its seatback experience as part of its United Next growth plan. By 2030, the airline expects to feature more than 300,000 seatback screens across its fleet, outpacing any other U.S. carrier. This includes newly delivered aircraft and retrofitted interiors featuring advanced 27-inch, 4K OLED, Bluetooth-enabled displays – currently the largest seatback screens offered by a U.S. airline.
With this collaboration, United travelers can access entire first seasons of Apple Originals directly from their seats, with new shows and seasons added monthly. Upcoming additions include The Morning Show and Bad Sisters, further enhancing the inflight entertainment library.
Apple Originals Onboard: Emmy-Winning Content in the Air
Apple TV+ has become a global powerhouse in entertainment, securing 81 Emmy Award nominations in 2025, with Severance leading as the most-nominated series of the year. Now, passengers flying with United can binge-watch all nine episodes of Severance season one on domestic or international flights, or continue watching seamlessly through the United app across multiple journeys.
United’s featured Apple TV+ channel will include more than 250 episodes of television, feature documentaries, and films, all available free of charge to travelers.
«Apple creates groundbreaking original series, and United travelers are going to love watching fan-favorite Apple Originals for free on their next flight,» said Mark Muren, United’s Managing Director of Product, Identity and Loyalty. «We’re setting a new standard for a premium inflight experience, and our first-of-its-kind collaboration with Apple TV+ gives fliers more high-quality content options on the latest high-definition seatback screens.»
Beyond Entertainment: United and Apple’s Broader Partnership
This is not the first collaboration between United and Apple. The two companies have already worked together on innovative services that improve both the customer journey and employee efficiency:
- Live Flight Updates on iPhone and Apple Watch: United was the first U.S. airline to integrate Live Activities, delivering real-time flight details directly to the iPhone Lock Screen, Dynamic Island, and Apple Watch. Millions of passengers now rely on these updates during peak travel.
- Bag Tracking with AirTag Integration: Customers can share the location of their AirTag or Find My accessory with United’s customer service team to help locate misplaced luggage.
- Empowered Staff with Apple Devices: United has equipped employees with iPhones and iPads, enabling mobile operations, streamlined communications, and faster customer support.
Redefining the Future of In-Flight Experience
With premium Apple Originals now available onboard, United is reinforcing its position as a leader in digital innovation and customer-focused travel. By combining cutting-edge cabin technology with award-winning streaming content, United not only enhances passenger comfort but also builds loyalty among tech-savvy flyers.
As competition intensifies in the global airline industry, partnerships like this highlight the shift toward personalized, high-quality in-flight experiences that blend technology, entertainment, and seamless connectivity.
