- The deal strengthens a partnership that began in 2006, as Kenya Airways continues connecting Africa and beyond.
In a strategic move to streamline operations and cut maintenance costs, Kenya Airways has joined Embraer’s Collaborative Inventory Planning (ECIP) program. The agreement, announced on March 10, 2025, covers 13 E190 jets, enabling more efficient spare parts management and enhancing the airline’s fleet readiness.
Smarter Inventory, Leaner Operations
Under the ECIP model, Embraer absorbs most of the inventory investment, allowing Kenya Airways to reduce capital expenditure while maintaining operational reliability. The system uses real-time data analytics, advanced software, and Embraer’s materials management expertise to recommend weekly part orders—based on actual usage and inventory levels.
In addition, ECIP offers:
- Fixed annual pricing per part, supporting predictable budgeting
- Access to Embraer’s global logistics network, improving parts availability
- Guaranteed performance levels, backed by Embraer Services & Support
This kind of structured, data-driven planning helps airlines like Kenya Airways reduce waste, avoid overstocking, and boost aircraft availability—especially critical in Africa’s dynamic regional market.
A Long-Standing Partnership

Kenya Airways and Embraer have shared a strong partnership since 2006, when the airline began operating the E-Jet family. Today, Kenya Airways flies to 45 destinations, with 37 of them across Africa, moving more than 5 million passengers annually.
Carlos Naufel, President & CEO of Embraer Services & Support, commented:
“We are ready to support the airline to keep its E-Jets fleet ready to fly, matching excellent performance and low operational costs. Our solution will provide Kenya Airways access to Embraer’s global logistics network and deepen the partnership between our companies.”
Looking Ahead
As airlines across Africa modernize operations and optimize costs, programs like ECIP offer powerful tools for smarter fleet management. For Kenya Airways, the agreement reinforces its commitment to efficiency, reliability, and customer service—all while expanding its role as a key connector in African aviation.
